@dillyd Brigitte Bardot — I like that! 😀

I have a gambel oak that I got free from my city a year-and-a-half ago. Critters tried to destroy it after I planted it, so it’s heavily protected until it gets better established. It recovered pretty well this year and has some really pretty leaves. It’s more of a shrub than a tree, and once established is supposed to form a thicket. I’m looking forward to that, hopefully. 🤞🏽

Looking down at the top of a gambel oak plant growing inside protective wire fencing. There are two stems growing from the bottom of the plant, and each stem has several leaves arrayed around it. The leaves are dark green with wavy, rounded, lobed edges and prominent, branching veins in each leaf.

@dillyd I love the shapes of oak leaves.

I just realized that today is my 4th anniversary. Thanks for putting up with me as I begin my second term. 😄

#FootpathFriday

A wide gravel path on the right side of the photo recedes into the distance and passes through some overhanging trees which have a mix of green and gold leaves. The left side of the photo is an autumn mix of trees and grassy vegetation in greens, golds, and browns, with a wire-and-post fence running along the path into the distance as well. A hint of mountains in the far background are peeking out through the trees, with mostly sunny, blue skies above painted with a few wisps of cirrus clouds.

Another beautiful autumn afternoon. 🚴🏽‍♂️🌾🌞

#BikeTooter #autumn #nature #Colorado

A wide gravel path — lined with tall trees shedding their golden-brown leaves — stretches into the distance on the right side of the photo. The path is littered with dried leaves and has patterns of light and shadow from the afternoon sun shining through the trees. Scenic mountains in the far background under mostly blue skies are partially visible through breaks in the trees. A low, split-rail, wooden fence in the near foreground runs alongside a bike path, separating an open meadow with a few tall, autumn-colored trees from the path. There are a few black cows scattered in the scrubby, dry-grass meadow, either lying about or quietly grazing on a mostly sunny afternoon. A few tall, skinny trees with golden-brown leaves standing by themselves in wide open space next to a gravel bike path, with a tiny-looking mountain bike propped against the base of one of the trees. There are more autumn-colored trees in the middle distance and a line of scenic mountains in the far background under mostly sunny skies painted with a few wispy, feathery cirrus clouds. A stand of very tall, mature cottonwood trees in an open space meadow dotted with smaller trees and scrubby vegetation, the leaves of the cottonwoods glowing golden-brown in the angled afternoon sun, with mostly blue skies in the background behind the trees.

The bike and I were happy at the park today. 🚴🏽‍♂️🍁🌞

Trees, shrubs, and cattails surrounding a calm park pond on a mostly sunny, mild autumn afternoon. The leafy vegetation around the pond is a mixture of autumn colors — from greens, to golds, to oranges, to browns. In the far distance, there is a line of scenic rocky mountains, with a puffy, white, fair weather cumulus cloud hanging above the hills.

Good morning. 🌅

#sunrise #Colorado

A branch of a silver maple tree hanging down in the center of the photo with its serrated leaves in silhouette against the background sky, along with other neighborhood pine trees in dark silhouette on either side. The pre-sunrise sky with a bank of low clouds near the horizon is painted in vibrant hues of orange and red, plus pale purple above the clouds.
