“When #PatrickStewart was growing up in the 1940s, he witnessed how, after his father beat his mother, home doctors and ambulance workers would tell her: “You must have done something to provoke him.”

Stewart knew the violence was never warranted, a conviction that became the spark for a lasting commitment to campaigning for greater understanding of domestic abuse.”

Commanding stage presence, great actor; For me though, it’s the leadership shown on #DV that elevates Patrick beyond other actors and celebs. Using visibility and position of power. 🖖

“Most White American Liberals ache and yearn for the aesthetics of marginalized groups, and easily play white confessional to cosplay (or LARP, better word needed) their way into the spaces of the oppressed, but never want to do the real, ACTUAL SHADOW WORK of *decentering their whiteness and themselves. There is never full abolition work with the typical “White” Liberal.”

I hope Sam Altman eats some bad lettuce.

If you don't like Nazis first step is to stop giving them your money.

A reminder that this book is excellent & very solarpunk & I highly recommend it because we've got some rough times ahead...no matter what prudent planning one does to manage chaotic times, you never know what crazy ass thing will happen. Planning for the unknown unknowns is all about resilience.

The one thing I've taken from the reaction of deaths of Dolly Parton and Patrick Stewart is how much love there is towards people who represent goodness, and how much meaning they bring to people's lives, shaping the idea of the world they want to live in, giving them ideals to strive for.

@mhoye @ErickaSimone I think I've got to apologise to Thelonius Drunk for inventing Felonious Bonk, not previously knowing he was on the label.

Just saw someone loudly proclaim "BONKWAVE > DONKWAVE" , and....

Look, you know you've got genre homework ahead of you when you look up some music term you've never heard of and find an argument that it's _way, way better_ than this _other_, music genre you've never heard of.

Much gratitude to @ErickaSimone for periodically reminding us that we are actually living in a miraculous golden age of music that's bigger and weirder than you think.

Album starts out with "Josie", but "Ruby Baby" is one of the best on there.

Unfortunately hard to find the CD at the moment, but keep an eye out for it used since it looks like junk (but it's really gold).

@ZackPolanski @MiddleEastEye she’s blonde and white passing too, which makes her and this type of rhetoric extra dangerous.

Modern Nazis from the descendants of nazi victims. Insane reality going on.

Mirlo really is one of the most music-first places out there (yeah, I know, I would say that). I've added all the current cassettes to our Ursinewave page but I've *also* been able to add a cassette bundle that appears on #Mirlo, even though it's hosted on my own website. I can’t think of anywhere else you could do that. 🐻🤝🐦‍⬛
