A junior developer is an actual person you're supposed to TEACH and who brings their own style and ideas into a team! Not a fucking machine that you need to prepare inputs for to churn through.

Fucking hell

@aesthr That they need a senior engineer to break apart and give them work then provide feedback for improvement?

This is literally how things have worked for hundreds of years.

You people really just view others as things to be used. It's disgusting.

No wonder you like the slop machines so much. It gives you the feeling of having servants without the feeling of guilt.

@aesthr Am I aware of the risks of cognitive decline? Yes. Am I afraid. Also, yes. I think, awareness is, atm, the best protection, apart from not using AI at all. But then we saw shifts in cognition in media revolutions before, e.g. oral tradition shifting to writing. Have we lost the ability to tell and remember epic oral stories and songs? Yes. But we have also gained the ability to fix records for better or worse. It's a cognitive shift with both, advantages & disadvantages.

@aesthr I understand your frustration. Your argument is totally valid. But the other commentator has a point about the use of AI, too. He did not chose good words. So I will try and hope to do better.

The AI can do the "boring legwork", e.g. creating slides for a presentation or wirting a formal letter. You provide the actual content and instructions that require & deserve your own cognitive work. The rest, the stuff you don't care to bother with, but still needs doing, is provided by the AI.

@levampyre I understood the argument quite well already. It's still dehumanizing.

When you delegate the "boring" work to a junior/apprentice/intern/etc you help train them to eventually become as good as you are. THAT is how things have worked for hundreds of years.

Claiming that delegating to an LLM is the same is treating that human relationship, and therefore the other person in it, as worthless.
