The alert that will matter most here is the absence of logs: a small heartbeat from each node's rsyslog to the log host, and a page when a node has sent nothing for, say, ten minutes. That is the failure mode that quietly turns a working archive into a silent one. The rebuild-time win from 39 to 9 minutes is the kind of thing you only discover because you now have the data to measure it.

Der heutige Vorschlag der EU-Kommission zum Kids Act geht viel weiter als nur Social-Media-Verbot für Kinder unter 15. Plattformen (egal wie groß) müssen vollständig verhindern, dass Jugendliche unter 18 öffentlich posten dürfen. Nur ihre Kontakte dürfen ihre Inhalte sehen, aber nicht downloaden oder Screenshots machen. Praktisch ein Verbot für Jugendliche, am öffentlichen Diskurs teilzunehmen.

Providers of online social networking services and of video-sharing platform services shall put in place measures to limit the visibility of any information shared by minors and their interactions with other recipients of the service. @chipiguay yeah the problem is they have one port when they’re coming. You can take out the SSD and put in a riser card and install a one port or four port card but then you don’t have to place for the SSD anymore and running only nvme would be not good because I’m trying to get it running with Nvme and ssd just to be able to build ceph cluster

My Proxmox lab’s logs were well kept and never read. Now Graylog reads them: three Data Nodes that never move, one server that moves when it has to, and every remote address in one field, so one search follows one visitor everywhere.

Seven failure tests found a firewall that had never been on. A Data Node rebuild went from 39 minutes to 9.

This could be the end of Type 2 diabetes.

Researchers at ETH Zurich led by Martin Fussenegger built a small wireless implant that uses electricity to break down extra sugar in the blood.

It switches off when levels are normal — and means people won’t need diabetes drugs anymore.

Inside is a catalyst made of graphite felt coated with tiny gold and platinum particles, with no living cells or drugs. A glucose sensor worn on the arm watches sugar levels. When they climb after a meal, it signals a phone or smartwatch, which switches on the implant.

The catalyst then turns glucose into gluconate, a harmless compound the body flushes out in urine, and the system shuts off once sugar is back on target.

In diabetic mice, the device kept blood sugar under tight control for six weeks, the animals lost weight, and it caused no sign of tissue damage.

Because less sugar ends up stored as fat, the team sees it as a possible tool for both type 2 diabetes and obesity, without daily pills or injections. So far it has only been tested in mice, and human trials are still ahead.
