A rounded mushroom cap is growing amid Redwood duff, grass and weeds in Cowen Park. The cap is white with reddish brown scales. The cap looks finely shaggy.

Turning the mushroom over, you can see it's larger than it first appeared. The cap rim is shaggy. The gills are crowded and a light tan. The ring on the stipe is creamy white, detached, and also shaggy looking. The stipe is fairly slender, colored reddish orange below the ring, with a bulbous foot. The flesh turned a reddish shade when broken.

Although it is listed as edible, some people are very sensitive and get quite sick when eating them. I'll pass!
