Flávio Bolsonaro entered the US on an invalidated Brazilian passport, traveling on a plane booked by US authorities. Le Sigh.

Project Beard, week 2.

Make it so.

Rest in peace, Patrick Stewart.

Google be like: let's replace search results with "AI" stuff so people stay on our site.

Ad bookers: But why should we pay for ads when they don't send people to our sites?

Google: Uhm, book more ads! Because that's what we need!

@sheogorath We are many. And we are conspiring to bring back what we've lost :)

Things I have heard all my life, since at least 40 years:

- We will run out of oil in 20 years
- Fusion reactors will give us cheap energy in 20 years
- We just need to build more roads instead of public transport to solve traffic jams
- You will have to give up your relative luxury for a better future for all
- We cannot tax the rich

After all those years, I think these are all lies ;)

ASCII isn't, but UTF-8 is good enough for e-mail. No HTML, no callbacks. E-mails should be pure text. #GrumpyGrayBeard

Things to surprise or impress a dutch person you fancy, who is living in a different country, with:

- Pickwick tea
- Douwe Egberts roodmerk coffee
- Calvé Pindakaas
- Venz or De Ruijter Hagelslag
- Venco Munten/Honingdrop
- Hema Rookworst
- Jip en Janneke books or postcards
- Nijntje pillows or anything Nijntje, actually
- Zwartwit powder (don't ask what it is)
- Mustard or mayonnaise from Zaandam
- Conimex spices

"Trust but verify" means that after reading an interesting article, I actually get the research papers mentioned and at least gloss them over myself. It is depressing to see how often articles prefer clickbait and exaggerations over what the paper really states. This often causes collateral damage as the misquoted author(s) of the paper now have to defend themselves against these wrong conclusions. Le sigh.

I am from the countryside. I live in the big city. But I cannot resist the urge to put my hands in such beautiful, fertile ground and smell the petrichor aroma every now and then. It always grounds me (pun intended :)

For the elders of the internet, like me, a helpful list of translations:

- Botnet -> Agentic AI
- Command & Control server -> MCP Server
- Script Kiddies -> AI hacking
- Web scraping/crawling -> AI training data collection
- Code of conduct -> agents.md
- Copyright violation -> prompt engineering

Every technology is dual use. Good, bad — it is often a scale. A sarcastic look can help to avoid getting locked in to a binary view.

So this post is #SarcasmButOnlyHalf

I prefer honesty and transparency over FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) and dogmatism.

So my position on "AI" in coding is reflective of that. I personally don't see value in using LLMs for my coding or anything else. I have stated that quite a few times.

HOWEVER, I also accept projects or people using LLMs. But they must be honest and transparent about it. When they try to hide the use of LLMs, that is a red flag.

Be honest. Be transparent. Be consistent. And always: be respectful.

Am I the first person ever to run a Bourne shell on a Commodore 64 I wonder.

A 1MHz 6502 sucks at disk I/O, sucks at copying memory and sucks at running C code, especially when the C code has to be optimized for space not speed. But it works.

I have plans for REU support which I think will make it much much faster assuming i can get away with a few tricks and the timing doesn't break anything.

Like father, like son. After losing the election, Flavio Bolsonaro leaves his father behind a prisoner and flees to Trump's Country. #WhereIsMySurprisedFace

When designing web pages, what's your default approach? (and please stick to the context. I don't need yet another CSS framework discussion ;)

Mir war gar nicht bewusst, dass der Big Mac in Deutschland nicht in jeder Filiale denselben Preis hat. Die billigsten gibt es in München (5,99 €), die teuersten in Berlin (7,06 €). https://mhimed.com/bigmac/
