Btw. the best defense against that: Having a link back to Mastodon/Fediverse on a personal website (or on the ORCID profile, or smth. similar)
Cherry on top would be a link with rel="me", this can also be used to have verified (green) links in your bio on here :)

Grrr, with all the ongoing spam I'm not inclined to believe that very very new accounts claiming to be somewhat well known figures are real 😓
Post is a result of an empty account created today and claiming to be Dr. Stephanie Seul requesting to follow me.
I'd love for that to be true, but alas :/
