The sheer amount of people posting clueless shit about how they want to attend #40c3 but have zero plan about how the thing works is astounding. Every year the same inane questions about how2this and vouchers that leaves me with the impression

1) You didn't do your goddamn homework, yet want to hang with the cool kids, rtfm || gtfo

OR

2) Chaos isn't nearly as accessible as those already "in" like to think it is.

Assuming good faith, i grudgingly have to accept the latter option. 1/2

@miketango Both can be true at the same time? But the first option is, indeed, an elitist arrogant thought, that stands against the ideals of the culture. (Which does not mean it is rare within the establishment. We sure all feel it at times.) But the character of the event has changed so much with the growing number of visitors over the years. In 2008 you kind of knew everybody on the event and the new kids at least came in tow with a kid that knew everybody. Very different precondition.

@TabascoEye Define "good"! I'm really struggling with the size of the location and the amount of people now. This has kept me from attending for many years when I did not have enough spoons to juggle both, supervising toddlers and navigating an over-stimulating mass event. Now again the thought of having to survive this in a new location gives me a shitload of anxiety. But the kids wanna go and the wife wants to go. And I'm like: "Hm, maybe my sofa is not so bad after all?" 🤔
