It is designed to intimidate and preemptively deter anybody who ever tries to hold Trump accountable in law or politics, part and parcel of his revolting attacks on Ilhan Omar, Letitia James, etc etc.
@heidilifeldman I'm disturbed by the number of otherwise sensible people whose reaction is "screw Comey; his ineptitude cost Clinton the presidency".
This isn't about "karmic justice for Comey", it's about LEGAL justice for everyone, not to mention scaring future Comeys into submission.

no one had to scare Comey into submission, his first priority was to make sure no woman would ever dare to think she could lead America, he put Trump in office & everything that comes after that comes because he was that much of a bigot that he had to put his thumb on the scale to make sure a woman would never lead this country while he had power to stop it
there are thousands of people in concentration camps & prisons in this country right now, and until every single one of them is free, forgive me if I DGAF about James Comey
the fact that everybody who dances with the devil eventually gets f'd over by the devil does not impress me as something special that happened to James Comey, selling your soul to the devil being a bad idea is a trope for a reason

but it doesn't protect me, i am not in fact protected
at some point it becomes unreasonable to ask me to care when bad things happen to people who think they are born superior to me
