This is the first house I've owned that was built less than fifty years before I purchased it, so the first time in my life as a homeowner that I'm dealing with "builder grade" materials and installations. I joked with my dad the other day that every time I replace a fixture the average quality goes up. Even just scraping the sprayed primer out of the junction boxes so you can tell the difference between the white and black wires leaves it better for the next owner.

@FritzAdalis Based on the number of "new build" ceiling junction boxes I've had to tear out and replace with "old build" boxes in the sheetrock to get lights to hang correctly, you're not wrong
