I periodically feel the urge to get away from VSCode, so I've played around with Zed lately. It is nice and fast, but it lacks extensions I need, and is a little awkward to use. Then there's Neovim. I've set up a lot of configs for it to get it to a place where it is quite usable, but it is so *very* different. I may just keep it for those times I need a remote session.

I've come to realise that at my age, switching IDE is a bigger commitment than switching jobs. 馃槄

@veronica i keep promising myself that when i reach a reasonable stage in my project, I'll move from the ever declining JetBrains Golang to something lightweight and stable.

@chris_e_simpson Oops, deleted my post because I managed to misunderstand you as saying JetBrains was lightweight, which made no sense to me. 馃槄

My former colleague's poor laptop used to overheat and crash if he opened two instances of PyCharm at the same time.
