@dillyd this is a very cool shot!
@colo_lee thanks!
@dillyd I love the shapes of oak leaves.
@SunnJax they're so fascinating. Also the variety! The pointy red oaks, the curvy white oaks, and I even have a shingle oak, which I wouldn't have known was an oak. We call it Brigitte Bardot (bardeau, same pronunciation, means shingle in French.)

@dillyd Brigitte Bardot — I like that! 😀
I have a gambel oak that I got free from my city a year-and-a-half ago. Critters tried to destroy it after I planted it, so it’s heavily protected until it gets better established. It recovered pretty well this year and has some really pretty leaves. It’s more of a shrub than a tree, and once established is supposed to form a thicket. I’m looking forward to that, hopefully. 🤞🏽
@SunnJax beautiful, I'm glad you have it protected well!
@dillyd There's a small grove nearby, I was just thinking about how long they hang onto their leaves.
@sunumbral my tree hung on to one cluster of leaves from last fall, all through the winter spring and summer
