I absentmindedly picked up a 2026 U.S. dime from the table to examine it during a phone call and discovering the lack of olive branch in the eagle's right talon ruined my day. Apparently this was a big deal when it launched and I just missed it until today.

A drop-box might be better for some voters early in the day for some mail-in voters who are COVID-conscious (for example), but in general: go to your polling location if you've not voted already on election day. The poll workers _will_ find some way for you to vote.

PA judge of elections here! Your guidance about election day mail-in ballots is technically true but lacks nuance and may mislead people. Poll workers are trained in a process by which voters who requested mail-in ballots can surrender them to receive a regular in-person-voting ballot. So all this to say: if you're reading this on election day and you still have your mail-in ballot (whether or not you've marked it), please DO go to your assigned location and ask for the folks working there to accept your surrendered mail-in ballot.

Please share with all your #Pennsylvania friends with mail-in ballots: Ballots must be RECEIVED by your county election board by Election Day. THE POSTMARK DOES NOT COUNT. Don't consider USPS at this point.

Use the list to find a drop box in your county: pa.gov/agencies/vote/voter-sup

Every voter must place only their own ballot in the box.

If you try to turn your mail-in ballot at your polling place on Election Day, you may be directed to drive to a drop box or fill out a fresh ballot (see below).

Everyone’s talking about all the websites running php for some reason

No one is talking about all the network appliances with php web UIs running in enterprises across the world that are too old to get a patch but are too critical to replace

If you have one of these devices, you know it’s not getting replaced

This is how you get lateral movement through a network. Not from a website running php and a misconfigured acl letting it break into your private network, but from your stupid physical door access controller that happens to be accessible from the guest wifi or a dvr your “security company” installed and needs port forwarding on

It’s not just about patching, it’s about understanding your weaknesses

Male supremacy culture is at the absolute core of evrything that is toxic and devouring.

Great Man culture only ever works for the elite great men. Everything else gets destroyed. It's inevitable.

RE: floss.social/@josch/1175093328

I think the middle ground "maybe LLMs" choice was quietly, secretly rooted in a hidden contempt for other people's work, particularly anyone "not technical". No LLMs for code, we'd never use LLMs for something that important obviously, but for _documentation_ sure. For _graphics_, for _art_, obviously. Those things aren't _code_, you see, they're not _important_.

But, it turns out they are important. And they make it clear who and what you're willing to sacrifice, so you can feel important.

@emma @be Indeed I was afraid of this to happen when the GR got discussed. There were many people whom I highly respect (and still highly respect) who were convinced that there were indeed roughly 3 choices: "no LLMs", "maybe LLMs" and "always LLMs". Unfortunately, those who said that the "maybe LLMs" choice was the same as the "always LLM" choice seem to be receiving evidence that they might've been right all along and in fact there were only 2 choices... @cwebber

I turned in my ballot weeks ago and so far nobody with a filled circle next to their name has disappointed me. If anything I've been more impressed with our statehouse candidates as the race comes to a close.

@heidilifeldman I'm disturbed by the number of otherwise sensible people whose reaction is "screw Comey; his ineptitude cost Clinton the presidency".

This isn't about "karmic justice for Comey", it's about LEGAL justice for everyone, not to mention scaring future Comeys into submission.
