It's almost as if they bet on the wrong thing and lost a ton of money in the process. I wonder what could that be?

Wren Reilly @akareilly@hachyderm.io

“Where did all the principled people who would hold the line against slop code in open source go?”

Maybe they left or were pushed out because they objected to Nazi tattoos, allegiance to Gamergate with threats of doxxing and SWATting, gendered violence at developer meetings and conferences, convicted child abusers at conferences, transphobia, ableism, and platforming racism because “he can code” or “he wrote a book.”

Did we really expect action against bad things from the so-called leaders who let WILDLY BLOODY OBVIOUS asshole behaviour happen without consequences?

True story: I was once able to help Dr. Knuth with The Art Of Computer Programming, by finding contact information for somebody he owed one of his famous cheques from the Bank Of Sans Seriffe and putting them in contact.

I believe that this is the atomic value of possible contributions to TOACP and computer science as a whole. No smaller or less significant contribution is possible.

🇪🇺 In the European Parliament, CEO and LobbyControl identified 655 lobby meetings on the Digital Omnibus.

An average of three meetings with MEPs every working day since the Commission published its proposal in November 2025.

🕴️ Business interests accounted for 83% of those meetings.

when ads get through my filters, they're often rather poorly targeted because I don't fit into typical interest buckets for my gender and age, but this ad that's clearly targeted at a Levite tribesman from 1200 BCE is perhaps the furthest from the mark yet

1/4 what i want from a file transfer service a fictional website called epictransfers.gay is open on a browser and a phone, a file called xbox.zip is being sent at a speed of 32MB/s, using ultra p2p encryption transfer. at the bottom of the page there is a share link.

2/4 what i don't want from a file transfer service three browser windows with fictional file-transfer websites are open. the first one is slow, showing a speed of 0.94MB/s. the second one has an annoying ad for "best video converter app for mac os x" as well as a label that says "we're fowarding ur unencrypted file through our server LMAO". the third one has a dialog box that says "lmao sorry", "ur file is like over 4gb or something and we’re an open source project that was bought out by some random company so maybe to transfer this file try this instead: lemonwire.gov.uk"

3/4 what i don't want to do, just to transfer files there are multiple conversations between my little pony characters. conversation 1: lyra: hello pls add me to ur tailscale ssh so i can just rsync scp this file to u rainbow: wtf is a tailscale lyra: oh just download magic snakehole and send me ur code rainbow: bro what lyra: whats ur ftp server? rainbow: python -m http.server lyra: look i just want the movie file wtf conversation 2: lyra: okay so just open ur torrent client and click create torrent twilight: um okay done lyra: okay now share with me the magnet link twilight: okay here magnet:gjhajsdhf lyra: okay i added it but its not working, what are is ur ip and port twilight: where do i see my port lyra: okay so enable dht and then check ur router settings and firewall mkay twilight: okay done lyra: hm still doesnt work do you have a syncthing? conversation 3: rarity: darling, just air drop it to my ibook pro lyra: i have an eeepc fym air drop it to you??? rarity: ew lyra: sorry. conversation 4: lyra: so um lets just use opentransfer.drop moondancer: its dowm lyra: hm well we can just use github.com/opentransfer moondancer: fine okay lemme set it up moondancer: okay they have a docker nice moondancer: okay its downloading deps moondancer: okay it is running now moondancer: lemme set up a https tunnel moondancer: okay try opentrans.moondancer.gay lyra: doesnt work for me moondancer: oh right i need to fix my rules moondancer: okay try now lyra: okay it opens nice, but uh it gets stuck at 0% moondancer: okay uh i fixed the websocket proxy pass try again lyra: oh hey it works now

4/4 no double-transfers they work but take twice as long as they should and often allow the “download” to start only once the “upload” is fully finished the graphic shows lyra and bonbon transfering files through various means: - google drive - discord chat - usb drive

With this #GitHub runner vulnerability in place, dependencies could have been tampered with and malicious payloads injected into the built software. Any software built with these runners since the #eMudhra was made public and until the runners are fixed must be considered compromised.

GitHub's macOS runners are unfortunately still vulnerable to the eMudhra CA compromise, meaning that any TLS traffic that goes through the system Git, curl, etc. is MITMable.

(success in the CI matrix below means the runner made a TLS connection that it absolutely should not have.)
