@wyatt same, I have a couple around I need for testing different Linux distros but I wouldn't use one for anything serious. And since I need the latest Windows for work I always go through the hassle of being able to dual-boot rather than keeping it in a VM.

It’s a bold strategy, Cotton. Let’s see if it pays off for them. https://www.tomshardware.com/tech-industry/big-tech/cisco-gives-27-year-old-engineer-unlimited-ai-tokens-to-rewrite-98-percent-of-the-companys-legacy-code-in-24-months-president-plucks-former-startup-founder-telling-him-to-go-nuts

Ever had that feeling in your stomach you get when you’re trying to root-cause-and-restore some outage and find out that the backups for your failed service are on the same physical strata as the service itself?
Well, funny story but Binance’s emergency fund seems to also be held in cryptocurrencies.

#Inktober 30. Cookie
A cozy scene to finish off the month, with some familiar features for those who've been paying attention recently :D
...And that's a wrap for my Inktober! It's taken a lot out of me (~3-4 hours every other day is a lot of drawing), but it's also been some of the most fun, and I dare say some of the best, art I've ever made. Looking forward to compiling them all on my website, sharing the whole collection once more tomorrow, and then probably not drawing much for a while :P

It was never properly explained - interference from Q was a common suggestion - but for a standard day, regardless of what drink you ordered from a replicator, on any Starfleet ship, it would serve the same thing:
Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.

My favorite Patrick Stewart story arose out of a chance encounter. We happened both to be seated on the same flight in the same cabin near one another. I looked over and saw a familiar bald pate and furrowed brow.
“Aren't you…?” I asked him.
He looked over and his face lit up with delight. Then he spoke to me in that unmistakable proper manner of his.
“Well aren't YOU!” he responded, his eyes twinkling.
We had a good laugh. Rest in power—warp power—Sir Patrick Stewart.
@santi they're taking the biggest hit today, two days ago it was Google, yesterday it was Amazon. It's because they're posting their Q3 results and they look like shit, and everybody is doing it on a different day.

Just look at the outpouring of love and respect for Patrick Stewart and compare him with the mediocre men at the head of the tech industry, sitting alone in their castles made of money and algorithms. How jealous they must feel, longing for the genuine affection they will never get, the popularity earned and not bought, the love they will never understand.

It surprises many, but as a younger kid, I was never really interested in science. I found it tedious, frustrating, needlessly complex.
That was until one day when I wandered into the front room, where my mother was watching this colourful show about an eclectic bunch of characters on a spaceship.
She said it was Star Trek, but it wasn't. I'd seen Star Trek, it was those films where that bunch of middle-aged people in red tried to kidnap whales or shoot God in the face, or something.

Reading the many farewells to Sir PatStew here, I'm reminded of a different side of his: like many men his age, he grew up with a violent man in his home. He saw it, he suffered from it – and most importantly, he very deliberately chose a different path for himself. He broke the cycle, and for me, that's much more impressive than the final frontier – even though I have the best memories watching ST:TNG with my dad as a kid.
May the star dust rest lightly on you.

Given how close the republican administration is to the crypto industry it's almost as if they've found a way to deliberately fund the North Korean regime
