This is FASCINATING. Researchers were able to pin down the cause of measurable global 60 second power spikes to software that does regular checks on the minute mark. They found large scale battery installations as one major cause, but obviously this is true for any other computerized system that does cron jobs and has a synchronized clock. As weird as it sounds, adding random 0-59.999s delays to cron jobs in Linux distributions and other software would actually help the power grid.

BeOS support in Infinite Mac is officially released: https://infinitemac.org/?filter=beos
https://blog.persistent.info/2026/10/infinite-mac-beos.html has more details - this didn't involve a new emulator, but it did uncover some unhandled edge cases in DingusPPC and some side quests to get software loaded.
@abraham Maybe in a future sale.
@mcl That would be my guess too, but you should contact @cottonbureau to find out for sure. (This is the first time we’re selling these new weights, and I’ve never touched one of the new ones.)

Periodic reminder: EVERYONE. Even very smart people. Even people who work in security. Even people who work with account phishing. Even you. EVERYONE can fall for a scam.
The more strongly you believe you could never fall for a scam, the worse you're going to get fucked when one slips past your defenses. Scammers LOVE people who think they're too smart to be caught.
Never shame someone for getting caught by one - be understanding and helpful and supportive. Because you're going to be in that seat someday.
@exkclamation Yeah, probably.

It remains a popular activity only because it’s better than the alternative. My first exposure to chemotherapy was with this […]

I’m so used to this not working on whatever menu bar icon annoys me the most, I didn’t even think to try it. But it works on this one! (And maybe it works on all menu bar icons now. And if not, there’s always the kill switch in System Settings > Menu Bar.)
