Happy Halloween!

Two mostly melted shaggy mane mushrooms dripping block gunk in a way that looks very spooky and goth.

This one maple leaf caught my eye with that contrast.
#FallColors

Fallen maple leaves on the ground, mostly ranging from yellow to brown, but one stands out. We see its underside, with bright red veins, and pale green edges.

Lichen and moss on an old wooden #garden bench.

Close-up of part of an old weathered garden bench. The wood is heavily textured and covered in patches of pale green and grey lichen, as well as some darker moss. In the background, there are long, variegated green and yellow leaves, along with some fallen brown leaves on the ground.

#GoodMorning

Sunrise over the corn field. Not today. Pale bluish gray skies are striped with thin clouds in yellow, orange, pink, and light purple. The little woodlot is creeping in on the right, and the corn is being taken down.

Tamarack pines leaning over a plant filled lake, in front of a gray sky. The one in the background is completely brown, and the one in the foreground has just started to turn, still mostly green. Death to the ankles of those who walk below!

A new instance, so a new pinned post! I'm a harpsichordist living in Montreal, making a living with performing, tuning and repairing all sorts of keyboard instruments. (harpsichords, organs, clavichords, pianos) I mainly focus on historical ones, though recently have begun to also tune modern pianos as well. If you see someone making adjustments to a harpsichord in the intermission of a concert in Montreal, it's probably me!

The light was catching these ‘shrub’ concoctions yesterday and making them look extra pretty
#MagicInTheMundane

Two jars one shining pinkish (with berries and herbs), the other green (with lime slices and herbs), floating in a clear liquid, the sun is shining through them from behind. There is an empty glass jar to the left also catching the light.

#DiaDeLosMuertos #DayOfTheDead #Flores #Flowers #Mexico

Today, my friends from Mexico stopped by to pick up the marigolds that I had for them. Marigolds are the traditional flower for decorating the home altar (ofrenda) for remembering the deceased.

A nice surprise was that they dropped off some homemade “pan de muerto” (bread of the dead). It’s a sweet bread decorated with crossed “bones” made of pieces of dough.

Three plastic grocery store bags filled with large bright orange flowers. The flowers are still attached to a few inches of stem with green leaves. Three round sweet breads on a large dinner plate. The bread is a rich tan color with a sheen (from egg?). The top of each bread has a raised cross or X formed from bread dough.
