Some days I can't decide what to post for my 365 project. It could be that I've taken a few that I really like or (more often, sadly) that I'm underwhelmed with them and, on the worst days, think they all absolutely suck. 😕 On days like these, I'll send Aled a few options and let him pick. Today I sent Aled a few options and he picked this one... And then I promptly rejected it for being boring. 😆

He always takes it in stride but I felt bad about it (🤏) so I thought that maybe I'll occasionally post one that he likes, even if it's not what I was hoping for.

With that, I present the very first #AledsPick.

Looking out over a tidal estuary during sunset in North Wales. In the foreground, calm pools reflect a dusk sky transitioning from twilight blue to pastel pink. A large patch of dark green marsh grass sits in the foreground, while the peaks of the Moelwynion mountain range stand in the distance under a twilight sky with low hanging clouds.

I can't remember the plot of that one, but I noted it as one of my favorites.

A placid ocean at sunset, with small waves calmly rolling in. The sky has shades of peach, yellow, orange and reddish gray all around the sun. The Sun itself is sinking into a cloud layer just above the horizon, so its top half is yellow, and the bottom half is faded orange, with that dividing line being slightly curved downward, making the Sun appear really spherical. The sunlight is creating a faint wide ‘V’ shape above the Sun, where the clouds are slightly brighter. The water is a blue-gray scattered with darker shadows, except for closer in, where it is lighter blueish gray with the tiny waves churning near the shore. Some scattered parts of the water also catch and reflect the reddish tones from above. Most closely in, a shore of wet sand is reflecting pink and orange in a softly shiny strip. It’s all very symmetrical, seeming more like a painting than a photo.

I’m sad to say I’ve recently joined the “unexpectedly been made redundant” gang 😢

So I’m now looking for a new role where I can bring my 20+ years of frontend dev experience to a team where things like user experience, design and accessibility are valued and who still care about the 'craft' of building good things for the web.

If anyone knows of any teams who fit that criteria and are currently hiring I would greatly appreciate a heads up 🙏

#DiaDeLosMuertos

This is a commissioned art piece. It is by Daniel Valero, entitled "20 Petal Flower". It was created in two Studios located in Mexico and Brooklyn. There will be an altar on the bottom for the public to place items for their loved ones. It also will light up at night. I took this last week or so as it was going up, on a beautiful day #Photography #NYC #AltText

Color photo taken of a colorful sculpture created for Dia de los Muertos. It has about a 6 foot base that's 3 feet high painted bright pink with some light pink geometric designs. The designs almost look like two arms reaching around and in the middle it looks like a stem with a straight line and three dots on it representing leaves. Above that is a triangle of flowers, all of the flowers are large round flowers with 10 bright orange petals and a yellow center with yellow strings coming out of the middle. There are four on the bottom, then three, then two and one forming the triangle. In the background are the buildings of Nomad (north of Madison, basically 23rd to 34th St around Broadway)

Halloween may be over but some things are still pretty good
#Photography #SeattleWashington #Halloween2026 #OurNeighborhood

A red pickup up truck is seen from behind, with its tailgate open. Some hay is scattered over the bed, with a few bales stacked against the cabin. There is a skeleton in a fancy brown garden hat sitting against the cabin, holding a pitchfork, surrounded by pumpkins with various things painted on them. One has Snoopy sleeping on top of his red doghouse. Another has a bat flying through the sky. Two have faces painted on them imitating the American Gothic painting by Grant Wood, with grandpa holding a tiny pitchfork. On the left side is a crate full of straw, with skeleton hands and feet sticking out and a pumpkin head; it looks like pumpkin zombie is trying to rise! The truck is parked in a residential area with a tree lined street glowing in red fall colors. The street is littered with red oak leaves.

The late rays of the sun are just touching the tops of golden leaved trees in the distance in the centre of the frame. The foreground has some evergreen trees framing the scene on the left with other trees on the right bringing the focus to those golden trees. the middle foreground is sumac bushes beginning to turn to red. The sky has dark clouds to left and right of those lit up tree tops but is blue just above them.
