#FootpathFriday

A pat through a lightly wooded park, just a few leaves left in the trees, the path and ground covered in fallen leaves, with long shadows just before sunset.

#FallColors

Layers of leaves from different trees in autumn. The first branches have sunlit red, another layer a gold/orange, and then surrounding green embraces the frame. The sky in the background is blue.

I didn't intend to take the whole tree lol. Will need some time before it's palatable.

Hachiya persimmon attached to a small branch with green leaves, slightly green and still hard.

Searching the way out

Tales from the sleepy hiker VII. September 2026.

#monochrome #blackandwhite #forest #halloween #photography
Black and white backlight photograph of a large eastern white cedar in the middle of the forest, showing its broad trunk curved to the left, surrounded by other smaller conifers with slender trunks. The oblique light of the end-of-day sun filters through the branches and needles, illuminating from behind and contrasting with the black silhouettes of the trees.

I'm so grateful to be a small part of this wonderful corner of the fedi, and for all of you that make it so human, friendly and diverse 💚

As a special tribute to my friend and co-admin, @bestiaexmachina here is a rare moment of us captured on canvas having a coffee in Berlin

It's painted by Patricia Gadea and is titled Van Gogh and his Friend, but the resemblance is so striking we know it's us really 🫟

Alt text 66 words

My photo of a painting in a public gallery. It's a cafe scene in the style of Van Gogh with two huge paint splashes at the front that have faces and hands at a table sharing one coffee between them. They are saying Puff, Puff and Paf as they concentrate, as one is taking notes in a notebook and the other is waving a spoon determinedly.

Café de fin de nuit qui s'achève, je retourne me coucher bientôt. Le temps de te présenter mon abeille géante qui a émergé de la shop cette semaine 🐝

Tu as un nom original à proposer? Je suis preneuse des suggestions. Elle a été un bon défi car il y a des éléments très délicats fixés sur des éléments robustes. 💪

100% rebut

Joyeux vendredi ! 🤸‍♀️✨️

More pet rocks! This time it's @dillyd 's mood rock. With spooky headwear 😆

#sillySpookyHatting

Two images side by side. Original alt txt: "A gray stone held in my hand. It has an indentation that looks like a big smile" and "The same stone, held the other way, so it looks like a grumpy frown instead. Or like a shark's mouth." My addition: the happy rock is now wearing a witches hat with a curved peak. The grumpy version is wearing a flower headdress with long curved horns.

Original alt txt: A large golden Gorilla sculpture sits on a box outside a shop entrance. A signs asks not to touch or feed them. My addition: The gorilla is wearing a headband with shiny white and gold leaf horns on it, is holding a long wand, and sitting on a round stained metal cauldron.

Sumac. A couple weeks ago I was walking with my son and we both looked at some sumac at the same time, and said in unison, "sumac is so pretty." Here's some from today's dog walk.
#sumac #FallColors

Closeup of some pretty orange sumac leaves hanging from a stem. They're long, with slightly frilly edges. They're mostly out of focus, with just a few bits in focus, bright orange against a dark background.
